DJI Phantom 3 Standard Review

Our Rating:

Check The Price

With the features of an advanced drone and a price point that won't scare new pilots away, the DJI Phantom 3 Standard provides the perfect balance of safety, reliability and an appealingly low price. Although this base model in the Phantom 3 line lacks some of the advanced features of its more expensive Phantom 3 counterparts, it is the ideal drone for a beginner to fly.

Great Drone for Beginners

From the moment that you command it to take off and fly for the first time, the DJI Phantom 3 Standard works hard to ensure that you'll have an enjoyable flight and remain free from accidents. The Phantom 3 Standard uses a built-in GPS sensor to record its position during takeoff. At any point, you can tell the drone to return home -- and it'll automatically fly back to that position and land. The Phantom 3 Standard also lands if it loses the controller's signal or runs out of battery power. If you lose sight of your drone, you can view a live GPS feed on your smartphone's screen. Using the DJI control app, you can define a boundary for the Phantom 3 Standard. When the Phantom 3 reaches the boundary, it'll automatically stop and await your next command.

Excellent Solution for Aerial Photography

The DJI Phantom 3 Standard includes a camera with a lens specifically designed for the best possible performance when capturing aerial images. The wide field of vision ensures that you'll never need to worry about fisheye distortion. The Phantom 3 includes a three-axis gimbal to ensure that the camera's image remains steady. The Phantom 3 records 2.7K video and 12 megapixel images. While many drones support 4K video, the 2.7K resolution of the Phantom 3 is much larger than most television screens.
